Club Racing starts off the New Year with new Chairman

January 1, 2010 marks the start of the new racing season with Gary Davis taking over as BMW CCA Club Racing Chairman. Gary is an experienced racer who has served Club Racing most recently as the North Central Region Representative to the Racers Advisory Committee.
Outgoing Interim Chairman Scott Blazey had this to say, “I am pleased that the National Board has selected someone of Gary’s experience and credentials to head the program. I believe Gary is the person who can lead the effort to grow Club Racing and make it an even better racing experience that it already is.”
About his brief stint at the helm, Blazey added, “In a short time I had the privilege to work with some dedicated volunteers. For their help and support I would like especially to thank the members of the Rules Committee—Dean Croucher, Bruce Smith and Mike Akard, Timing and Scoring Chief Larry Fletcher, Webmaster Jim Dresser, Scheduling Coordinator Bruce Lummis, and the members of the Racers Advisory Committee. Also, some racers may not realize that Club Racing Founders Scott and Fran Hughes are still actively contributing to the program in the areas of marketing, sponsorship, race schools, and licensing and we all need to thank them for everything they’ve done. I’d also like to thank Tricia Williams in the BMW CCA National Office for her hard work in support of our program. Finally, to all the racers whose racing skills, friendship, and camaraderie make this such a great experience, Happy New Year and have a fun, safe, and excellent 2010 season.”
