Our ’21 events might be over, but your Club Racing team continues to build momentum for the ’22 season. We can’t do it without good help, and we just signed up more of the same.
Joining BMW CCA Club Racing in the newly created position of National Grid Steward, I am immensely pleased to introduce DJ McArdle to the CR community. Volunteering with the Patroon chapter starting in 1990, he joined BMW CCA in 1997 and has worked tirelessly with Patroon in the pits and overall operations, with a couple of stints as Driving events chair and as an instructor since 2011. His old school track ride is an S52 transplanted E30.
For those who know DJ, you’ll be aware that he did yeoman’s work running the grid at our hugely successful Lime Rock Park event this past September, including directing the team getting 600+ cars lined up on the track at our Sunday Bimmers in the Park car show. He did a fantastic job at LRP and with the new demands on the CR stewarding team coming for 2022 to support our new PWR classes, we took the opportunity to ask DJ to join the crew.
Rejoining BMW CCA Club Racing as Director of Marketing and Promotion after a short breather is the irrepressible Shaun McKenzie, who most will know has been there and done that before with CR (for the unfamiliar, Shaun led the BimmerWorld BMW CCA Club Race School from 2015 through 2019, served two terms as the Northeast RAC, and was Chairman of CR from 2019 to 2020). Having joined the BMW CCA in 1998, his track driving skills were honed at our race school at Watkins Glen in June 2009 and in addition to his 2004 E46 CM race car, his outbuildings house a 2021 BMW M2, and a 2007 Porsche GT3. When not immersed in CR activities, he’s the Principle of Inflection Point Consultants, providing management consulting services to companies across the United States and Canada.
Shaun will be working closely with Lou D’Angeli, who continues for CR in his key role as Sponsorship Director.
CR is remarkably fortunate to have DJ and Shaun on the CR team and I’m sure you’ll all join me in welcoming them both to the leadership team.
